The Los Angeles Times reports that 20th Century Fox has yanked some of its high-profile movies out of this year’s Comic-Con, which kicks off next week in San Diego, Calif. The studio had planned on bringing stars and filmmakers together for a series of main-hall panel discussions on Friday, but apparently couldn’t get all materials together in time to make the kind of splash it had hoped for.
Pics that were slated to get a Comic-Con push include director Doug Liman’s Jumper, which stars Hayden Christensen; the Alien vs. Predator sequel directed by Colin and Greg Strause; the Vin Diesel action film Babylon A.D.; and the video game adaptation Hitman, starring Timothy Olyphant.
Last year, Fox used Comic-Con to introduce fans to a number of upcoming, big-ticket films, including The Simpsons Movie. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie make their big-screen debut on July 27 in what promises to be one of the biggest hits of the summer.
