Galleon Opens Apollo’s Pad

U.K.-based intellectual property owner Galleon Ent. has greenlight production of a new animated series titled Apollo’s Pad. Working in association with Sony BMG, The company will initially oversee the production six episodes of the musical comedy show targeted at viewers 16-24.

Set in an animated live-music venue dubbed Apollo’s Pad, the series follows the adventures of the king of disco dudes, club manager Hudson, and a bunch of music-loving maniacs that work and perform in the joint. Each five-minute episode features two minutes of gag-based comedy, followed by an animated music video featuring a classic hit re-recorded to reach a new audience. The songs are being produced by Grammy award-winner Brian Rawlings of U.K.-based Metrophonic Studios, who has produced chart-topping hits for Cher and Enrique Iglesias. The first episodes will include the the classic Monkees tune “I’m a believer,” as well as Edwin Starr’s “War” and Pink Floyd’s “Money.”

Apollo’s Pad was created by Galleon Holdings plc. CEO Stephen Green and managing director Len Dunne. The show is being produced by London-based Good Story Prods., whose writing team includes Chris Brown (South Park, Friends), with animation from Canadian company Copernicus Studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The property will also be launched on apollospad.com, which will provide streaming, premium downloads and user-generated content beginning in October.
