Cartoon Network has announced that the final episode of its Adult Swim series Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law ranked No. 1 with adults 18-24 in its time period on ad-supported cable. The half-hour series finale aired Sunday at 11:45 p.m. and also helped Adult Swim deliver more adults on the 18-34 demographic than any other ad-supported cable network over the entire day.
A spoof of the Hanna-Barbera series Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, Harvey Birdman was one of the five original animated series that launched with Adult Swim in September of 2001. Created by Michael Ouweleen and Erik Richter, the series finds the former superhero working as a lawyer and taking on cases for such Hanna-Barbera characters as Fred Flintstone, Scooby-Doo, Funky Phantom, Captain Caveman. The show ran for four seasons before wrapping up over the weekend with ‘Death of Harvey.’
The finale saw rating rise by 64% among men 18-34, and 43% among all adults in the demographic. In addition, Adult Swim says it charted more top-50 programs for the among adults 18-34 than any other cable network, claiming
three of the top five and seven of the top ten.
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law Vol. 3 DVD hits stores today and lists for $20.98. Bonus features include a refresher on the series’ characters for newbies and a compilation of the voice recording outtakes from the final episode.
