Simpsons to Testify on CD

Shout! Factory has announced plans to release The Simpsons: Testify, a soundtrack CD that spotlights the best songs from the last nine seasons of the hit animated series. In addition to Danny Elfman’s main title theme and material from award-winning composer Alf Clausen, the disc will feature the voices of series stars Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer, as well as special guest performances. Fans will be able to pick it up on September 18, just in time for the season 19 premiere on FOX.

The Simpsons: Testify will include tracks by the likes of Jackson Browne, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Ricky Gervais and The Talking Heads’ David Byrne. Byrne joins Homer in singing “Everybody Hates Ned Flanders,” and contributes an extended salsa remix titled “No Me Gusta Flanders.” Kelsey Grammar also shows up as Sideshow Bob, who belts out his loathing of Bart Simpson with “The Very Reason That I Live.”

All songs featured on the CD were mixed specifically for the new album, which also offers parodies of tunes from Broadway hits such as Evita, My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music. In “My Fair Laddy,” Groundskeeper Willie plays Eliza Doolittle to Lisa’s Henry Higgins as he learns both elocution and manners to the refrain of “What flows from the nose, does not go on my clothes.” In “Yokel Chords,” slack-jawed yokel Cletus and his hillbilly brood take the place of the von Trapp family and the song “I am sixteen going on seventeen” becomes “I have eight teeth, going on seven teeth.” For complete track listing, go to www.shoutfactory.com/press/214/the_simpsons_testify_a_whole_lot_more_or iginal_m.aspx.
