Warner Home Video will offer a bit of cartoon nostalgia and offer sneak peeks and new productions as it hosts several animation-related panels this week at the San Diego Comic-Con. In addition to looking back at the lives of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and introducing the long awaited Popeye DVD set, the company will take attendees behind the scenes of the upcoming DVD features Superman: Doomsday and Babylon 5: The Lost Tales.

Former colleagues and friends of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera will examine the toon titans’ nearly 70 years in the industry with a panel Q&A that will include the Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale producer/director team of Spike Brandt andTony Cervone, as well as casting/voice director Andrea Romano, Space Ghost voicer Gary Owens, author and animation director Tom Sito and Hanna-Barbera Cartoons author Michael Mallory.

The spinach-chugging seaman is coming to DVD with a proper send-off nearly 75 years after his silver screen debut and Wanrer Home Video will show clips from the set, followed by a panel discussion with King Features Syndicate’s Frank Carus, Hearst’s Stephen DeStefano, animation historian Jerry Beck and El Tigre creators Jorge Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua. Also joining in is Tom Hatton, who hosted the Popeye show in Los Angeles from 1954 to 1964, and 1976 to 1988.

Warner Home Video, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics present the world premiere of the first made-for-DVD release in the PG-13 DC Universe series. The screening will be followed by a panel Q&A with producer Bruce Timm, directors Brandon Vietti and Lauren Montgomery, writer Duane Capizzi, Superman voicer Adam Baldwin, DC Comics exec Gregory Novek and casting/voice director Andrea Romano. Afterward, there will be a special sneak peak at future DC Universe films.
